Celebrating Exceptional Rural Women

BYOM Co-Director Lisa Smith recently attended the AgriFutures WA Rural Woman of the Year Award. Hosted by The RRR Network, and in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), this event helps to highlight the fabulous contribution made by our rural women.

Each year, many regional women apply for this Award. The process includes presenting a project that will benefit regional WA communities. The winner gets named as the WA RURAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR and receives $10,000 to go towards their project. The winner also gets to represent WA at the National Rural Women’s Awards in Canberra, and have the chance to become the Australian Rural Woman of the Year.

BYOM’s regular work in regional areas means we get to witness these remarkable contributions in person, and we love seeing all the fabulous innovations and ideas that come from these rural women. Congratulations to all the finalists and best of luck in Canberra!
